Another Account of the Creation (Genesis 2:9, 15–17)

9 Out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil…15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.”

The Word Became Flesh (John 1:1–3, 10–13)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being…10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. 12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.

Metaphysical Interpretations

thought – Thought is the process in mind by which substance is acted on by energy, directed by intelligence. Thought is the movement of ideas in mind. Thought control is established by aligning the thoughts with the mind of Christ, bringing every thought into a harmonious relation to eternal, unchangeable principles. (MBD)

feeling – Feeling is external to thought; behind every feeling or emotion there lies thought, which is its direct cause. To erase a feeling, a change of thought is required. (RW)

Mind – By the term Mind, we mean God--the universal Principle, which includes all principles. (RW)

one Mind – There is but one Mind. Every individual and the various phases of character that make that individual are but states of consciousness in the one Mind. (RW)

limitation – Thoughts in consciousness that are narrow or restricted and which keep one in bondage to error. Belief in lack, illness, sin, or death are limitations in consciousness. (RW)

regeneration – A change in which abundant spiritual life, even eternal life, is incorporated into the body. The transformation that takes place through bringing all the forces of mind and body to the support of the Christ ideal. The unification of Spirit, soul, and body in spiritual oneness.

Regeneration begins its work in the conscious mind and completes it in the subconsciousness. The first step is cleansing or denial in which all error thoughts are renounced. This includes forgiveness for sins committed and a general clearing of the whole consciousness. After the way has been prepared, the second step takes place. This is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. (RW)
