Leaving a (Spiritual) Legacy – Part I

Have you ever wondered what about the legacy you will leave to this world? Is it something you plan for the future or do you realize the opportunity to do so in the here and now? Join us this Sunday to consider the possibility for all of us to leave our spiritual legacy as we are rather than waiting for some future point in time. In other words, what legacy are you leaving already for the Goodness of All?

Our talented music team will treat us to their Goodness with wonderful performances of songs by Daniel Nahmod, and following our service, we have opportunities to dig deeper into the message, serve our community, and share a meal and fellowship with others.

Sermon Notes

Main Scripture (Job 42:1–6)

Then Job answered the Lord:

“I know that you can do all things
    and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
    things too wonderful for me that I did not know.

‘Hear, and I will speak;
    I will question you, and you declare to me.’

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
    but now my eye sees you;

therefore I despise myself
    and repent in dust and ashes.”

Main Quote

“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” —Maya Angelou

Metaphysical Interpretations (MBD*)

Job – The transition of man from personal, formal righteousness, which is the basis of all self-righteousness, to a true inner change of heart and an entrance into the real Christ righteousness, which deals with the very thoughts and intents of the innermost consciousness instead of merely setting right a few outer acts.

Eliphaz – …signifies a thought of strength and of purification that springs from the subconsciousness…[but] does not measure up to spiritual Truth.

Bildad – The great desire of the partially awakened intellect to contend and strive…for that which appears right to it, its judgments and decisions being founded more in outer appearances than in Truth.

Zophar – …signifies a plane of darkened, limited thought or reason

Elihu – …represents the Holy Spirit. The name Elihu also signifies the recognition by man that his true inner self is Spirit.
