There is No Denial... Part 3

In preparation toward Thanksgiving, Rev. Jean-Marie will conclude his series on Unity's take on denials versus its more common interpretation in everyday life. Understanding the difference is relevant when successfully applying some of the spiritual Principles of the Masters and Wayshowers of the past.

Join us this Sunday as we wrap up this series and enjoy uplifting music and friendly fellowship.

Main Scripture

Jesus Heals a Paralytic (Matthew 9:1–8)

“And some people were carrying to him a paralyzed man lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Take heart, child; your sins are forgiven.’ Then some of the scribes said to themselves, ‘This man is blaspheming.’ But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, ‘Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier: to say, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Stand up and walk? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins’—he then said to the paralytic—‘Stand up, take your bed, and go to your home.’ And he stood up and went to his home. When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings.”

Definitions

Denial (traditional): a statement that something is not true; the refusal of something requested or desired; failure to acknowledge an unacceptable truth or emotion.

Denial (Unity): the process of releasing the power we give to something that is not true (false belief) to make room to affirm what is.

Revealing Word (Charles Fillmore)

Denial—The mental process of erasing from consciousness the false beliefs of the sense mind. Denial clears away belief in evil as reality and thus makes room for the establishing of Truth.

Letting go—Erasing from consciousness thoughts contrary to Truth. This is done by denial.

Forgiveness—A process of giving up the false for the true; erasing sin and error from the mind and body.
