Volunteering as a Spiritual Practice

Volunteering is one of the fastest and most impactful ways to put spiritual principles into practice. Unity Fort Worth thrives thanks to those who serve in roles, both big and small. Volunteering is a way of claiming ownership in your spiritual center and giving back to the community. Some opportunities may take only a few minutes every Sunday, others a couple of hours each month. Whatever it is, we welcome your gifts and talents and are grateful for your role in our community.

Building Community

Volunteering is also about building community, which is the number one reason why and how spiritual communities thrive and sustain themselves over decades. Belonging to a team, a committee, or a special interest group allows everyone to feel involved and derive meaning from their activities and Presence. In small ways, we give; in large ways, we receive.

Become Part of Our Community

With over 12 teams and over 40 roles in which to serve, we offer a broad range of opportunities for everyone to get involved in our community and find joy in doing so. At Unity Fort Worth, finding Joy in Service is our highest priority for everyone willing to give of their time and talent. That Joy is what makes our community special as we continue to be a safe haven for everyone who seeks acceptance in how they express their spirituality.

Are you ready to become part of our community and spend some meaningful time together?

FAQs

How do I find out what volunteer role would be suitable for me?

Each team has its own web page on which they introduce themselves, describe their various roles, and what they entail. You can browse the various volunteer pages (see above) or contact the volunteer coordinator for more information.

Do you provide training for your volunteer positions?

Yes. We offer training for all of our volunteer positions.

Can I learn something new when I volunteer?

Yes. We often encourage serving in a capacity that is unfamiliar and yet exciting to bring about the Joy in Service.

If my volunteer position no longer brings Joy for me, can I do something else?

Yes. We encourage you to regularly check in with yourself to see if you are still experiencing Joy as you serve in your position. Talk to your team leader or the volunteer coordinator for other opportunities.

How much time does volunteering take?

We offer volunteer opportunities that may take only a few minutes every Sunday or a couple of hours each month. Whatever it is, we welcome your gifts and talents and are grateful for your role in our community.

Can I volunteer on multiple teams?

Yes. While we encourage moderation to avoid volunteer burnout, many teams offer opportunities that work well alongside each other.

Can I volunteer online?

Yes. As a community that embraces serving our online congregation as much as those who come in person, we have several opportunities that can be done from the comfort of your home.
