- For a great introduction to the teachings of Buddha pick up a copy of The Dhammapada
- For insight into Taoism there are many translations of Lao Tzu’s classic The Tao Te Ching available. Also check out The Way of Chuang Tzu edited by Thomas Merton.
- The World’s Religions by Huston Smith is a now classic overview of the world’s great religions
- The Bhagavad Gita & The Upanishads are two of the most important Hindu scriptures. Eknath Easwaran has excellent editions of both plus a translation of The Dhammapada.
