As spring is winding down, we are reminded that life, like the weather is filled with unpredictability. Our lives, like our weather this spring, often consist of beautiful, heart-stopping days filled with sunshine, fresh air, and the promise of only good things to come. We also encounter dreary days of clouds, when all we want to do is to hibernate and wait for the sun to shine again.
We are also blessed with those days that are wild, threatening and unpredictable, in spite of the weather forecaster’s best guess. These are the days that remind us that when we feel our lives are ultimately out of our control, all we can do is hold on; make the best of the situation, and rest assured that like the strong winds and rain, this too shall pass.
The beautiful thing is, we are never alone facing these challenges. Divine Spirit is always beside us, within us, ready to protect us from the worst of the storms, and there to help us pick up the pieces that end up a little worse for the wear. From the “Prayer of Protection” we are reminded “Wherever I am, God is”. We do not need to stay stuck in those inevitable feelings of doubt, uncertainty or fear that often accompany those unpredictable weather days that make up our lives. We rest assured that God is with us, and all is well. So, whatever weather conditions you are currently facing, rest in the Peace that surpasses all understanding, and look forward once again to the sunshine and promise around the corner.
He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. Mark 4:39
